THREE BLUE DEVILS GARNER HONORS AT THE SEASON'S END
Three Brookville juniors earned SWBL basketball honors for this season. Marcus Brisco was named to the SWBL All Conference 1st team, while Derek Day and Collin Kindell were named Honorable Mention All Conference. For Brisco, that makes two years in a row named to the all conference 1st team. Day and Kindell’s successful seasons were rewarded with their first SWBL honor. On a broader stage, Marcus Brisco was also named to the AP All Southwest District Third Team and District 15 Underclassmen All Star Team. With the returning cast of players, next year’s picture looks bright for Brookville basketball.
STIVERS ENDS BROOKVILLE SEASON
The Stivers Tigers ended the Brookville Blue Devils basketball season 73 to 58 Thursday night at the UD Arena in the Sectional Championship game. Brookville ended the season with a record of 12-11, the first winning Brookville season since the 08-09 campaign.
The biggest difference in the game was the athleticism of the Tigers, who are just a bit quicker, can jump better, and were a little stronger than Brookville. Stivers was the 2nd seed in the Dayton Sectional Tournament so their advancement is no surprise. Brookville never backed down and played hard, but after the Blue Devils grabbed a 9 to 8 lead late in the first period, Stivers scored the next 9 points to grab the lead and the Tigers never looked back.
Brookville got to within 5 midway through the second quarter. However, the Tigers just slowly pulled away to win by 15. It was 15 to 8 after the first frame and 32 to 22 at the half. The Tigers led 53 to 39 after the third stanza and the final was 73 to 58. It was the final Brookville game for seniors Logan Delk and Tyler Cosculluela. Collin Kindell had a career game as he scored 18 points, a career best, including nailing 4 three point shots. Derek Day added 14 points for Brookville. Stivers did a really nice job on Marcus Brisco defensively. The Blue Devils leading scorer was unable to get the ball without having a tall quick player in his face. Brisco ended up with 9 points.
The rest of the Brookville points came from Brad Cox with 7, Nick Calvert with 6, and Logan Delk and Tyler Cosculluela each with 2. Stivers had 3 in double figures, Robert Caldwell had 18, Chazz George 16, and Isaiah Williams with 13.
Stivers shot 29 for 54 from the field including 25 of 44 in 2 point tries. The Blue Devils were 21 of 46 hitting 15 of 27 two point tries and 6 of 19 from behind the arch. Brookville was 10 of 14 from the foul line and Stivers made 11 of 19 charity shots.
DEVILS SHOOT DOWN ARROWS IN TOURNEY
The Brookville Blue Devils turned their best offensive performance of the season into a victory over the Preble Shawnee Arrows in the Sectional Tournament Tuesday night.
Brookville scored a season high 81 points, led by Marcus Brisco with a career high 35 markers, to win the game by the score of 81 to 67. The win guaranteed Brookville a winning season as the Blue Devils garnered their 12 win of the campaign. Preble Shawnee fell to 10-13.
Brookville played excellent team basketball throughout the contest. The Devils had 11 assists at halftime, a season high. The Devils crashed the boards on both ends of the court as they got numerous offensive rebounds, something they did not do in the final regular season game against Oakwood. It was simply a team win.
Brookville will play Stivers for the Sectional Championship Thursday night at UD Arena at 7:30 PM.
Shawnee opened game with a 3 pointer from Brian Ketrine. Marcus Brisco answered with a twine tickler from behind the arch. Following a lay-in by Josh Willoughby, Collin Kindell drained a trifecta from the corner giving Brookville a 6 to 5 lead. The basket started Brookville on a 10 to 2 run in which the Blue Devils would lead 13 to 7. Nick Calvert scored inside, Brisco hit a charity shot, and Tyler Cosculluela scored inside also. Kindell made a bunny to end the run.
Brookville never trailed the rest of the game. Brisco made two more three’s and a basket in the frame as Brookville led 23 to 17 after the first 8 minutes of play. Brookville outscored the Arrows 20 to 13 in the second period. This included an 18 to 7 run to end the first half. The score at the break was 43 to 30 Brookville.
Brookville increased the advantage to 62 to 44 heading into the final frame. The Devils largest lead was 23 at 67 to 44 with fewer than 7 minutes to play. Shawnee had 4 in double figures, Willoughby with 20, Ketrine 12, Williams 11, and Smith with 10.
Blue Devil scoring shows Brisco with a game and career best 35 points. Brisco made 6 three pointers and 6 two point baskets plus 5 free throws. Derek day scored 14, Nick Calvert 9, Collin Kindell 7, Brad Cox 4, Logan Delk 4, Devin Pennington3, Tyler Cosculluela 3, and Nathan Middlestetter 2. Brookville made 24 of 53 shots including 8 of 20 behind the three point line. The Devils were superb from the foul line making 25 of 31 during the game including 14 of 14 in the final frame.
OAKWOOD SPOILS SENIOR NIGHT
The Oakwood Lumberjacks spoiled senior night at Brookville by outscoring Brookville 22 to 8 in the decisive third quarter and rolling to a 48 to 34 victory. The win ended the Blue Devils regular season with a record of 11-10 overall and 5-7 in the SWBL Southwestern Division. Grant Pepper dominated the game with 22 points, 11 coming in the third quarter when Oakwood seized control. Pepper dominated on both ends of the court with scoring and with rebounding.
Brookville struggled from the field the entire game making only 14 of 42 shots for 33% shooting. The Blue Devils looked rusty after being off for 8 days.
Marcus Brisco led Brookville with 15 points. Brisco also had a team high 5 assists and team high 8 rebounds. Brookville managed only 2 offensive rebounds during the game as Oakwood defensively kept Brookville from getting more than one shot per trip down the court.
Brookville was outscored 35 to 15 in the second half, after leading 19 to 13 after the first 16 minutes of play. Blue Devil scoring shows Brisco with 15. Derek Day had 5 points, Collin Kindell 5 points, Nathan Middlestetter 4, Logan Delk 4, and Nick Calvert 1. Brookville will play Preble Shawnee in the Sectional Tournament on Tuesday the 27th at 7:30 PM at Tipp City. The winner plays Thursday at UD Arena in the Sectional Title at 7:30 pm.
THIRD QUARTER PROPELLS BROOKVILLE OVER EATON
The Brookville Blue Devils broke a 4 game losing streak by coming from behind to defeat the Eaton Eagles last night 61 to 51. Brookville rode the strength of a huge third period in which they outscored the Eagles 29 to 10 to wipe out a deficit of 11 at the half and turn it into an 8 point advantage after 3 periods of play. The win lifted Brookville to 11-9 overall and 5-6 in the SWBL Southwestern Division. The Blue Devils can clinch their first winning season in 5 years with a win over Oakwood Friday night.
Brookville fell behind 16 to 9 after the first period and then saw Eaton outscored the Devils 13 to 9 in the second period. That made the score 29 to 18 at the break.
Whatever Coach Jeff Davidson and his staff told the Devils at halftime were golden for Brookville. The Devils looked like a different team the next 8 minutes outscoring the Eagles 29 to 10 to snatch a 47 to 39 lead. Brookville then won the final frame 14 to 12 to walk off the court with a victory.
Marcus Brisco led Brookville with 22 points, 14 came in the 3rd period of play. Derek Day added 12 points for the Blue Devils. Other Brookville scoring came from Collin Kindell with 5, Nathan Middlestetter 9, Devin Pennington 3, Tyler Cosculluela 4, and Nick Calvert 6. Eaton was led by Hoke with 15 and Smith with 14.
BELLBROOK HANGS ON TO EDGE DEVILS
Brookville battled a much taller Bellbrook Eagle squad evenly throughout 32 minutes last Tuesday at Bellbrook. However, a three point shot at the buzzer bounced off the rim and Bellbrook managed to defeat Brookville 58 to 56. The loss was the 4th straight for Brookville.
Marcus Brisco scored a game high 14 points to lead Brookville in the contest. Nick Calvert added 10 markers as did Tyler Cosculluela. Derek Day scored 7, Brad Cox 7, Collin Kindell 3, Nathan Middlestetter 3, and Logan Delk 2. Bellbrook was led by Schumacher and Singletary with 11 each and Bronody with 10.
Brookville led going into the final period and after a technical foul was called against Bellbrook the Devils had a chance to seize a big lead. Brookville led by 4 at the time. However, Brookville missed both free throws and turned the ball over on the ensuing possession. Bellbrook answered with a three pointer and took the momentum. The Eagles eventually took the lead but Brookville never quit and got to within 2 in the final minute. The Eagles missed a pair of charity shots with 6 seconds left. Brookville grabbed the rebound, and without benefit of a time out, hurried down court. The Devils got off a good looking three point shot, but the ball bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded. It was heartbreak for Brookville.
TURNOVERS DOOM DEVILS AGAINST SPARTANS
The Brookville Blue Devils fell to 9-6 on the season after losing a tough fought 60 to 54 decision to Valley View Friday night in Brookville. The difference in the game was turnovers. Brookville committed 18 to only 12 by Valley View.
Brookville led in the final frame before Valley View, behind Casper Nolte scoring 10 of his 14 points, sprinted past the Blue Devils in the final four minutes. The Spartans outscored Brookville 14 to 6 in the final four minutes for the victory.
Besides the 14 by Nolte, Sam Pheiffer added 11 and Cole Johnson 9 for the Spartans.
Brookville got 19 points from Marcus Brisco, the Devils talented junior. Brad Cox added 9, Derek Day 8, and Nathan Middlestetter 7 for the Brookville.
Brookville had the lead late in the third period until Valley View stole the ball 3 straight times to score the final 6 points of the frame to lead 41 to 40. The Spartans also had numerous second shots as they did a very good job on the offensive boards.
Brookville shot 50% for the game hitting 17 of 38 shots, including 4 of 11 behind the arch. The Devils made 16 of 21 free throws. Valley View hit 21 of 45 shots, 3 of 9 from three point range. The Spartans made 15 of 25 free throws.

Brookville will play at Arcanum tonight and will have a busy week next week. The Devils travel to Valley View Monday, visit Eaton on Tuesday, and will host Tri-Village on Friday. The Bellbrook game will be made up on February 11 at Bellbrook.
FRANKLIN EXPLODES PAST BROOKVILLE
The Franklin Wildcats continued their mastery of the SWBL Southwestern Division by jumping out quickly against Brookville and never looking back Friday night. The Wildcats rolled to a 75 to 50 win to remain unbeaten in the Division. Brookville dropped to 9-5 overall and suffered their 3rd Division loss of the season.
Luke Kennard, the superstar point guard of the Cats, was tremendous with 39 points. However, the hot shooting of Evan Crowe was the big thorn in the Blue Devils side in the game. Crowe scored 23, including 5 three point shots, all in the first half, as the Cats led 24 to 12 after the first period and 46 to 24 at the break.
Franklin led 61 to 41 after three periods and the final of 75 to 50.
Brookville battled hard but could not overcome the talent, size, and ability of the Wildcats.
Derek Day led Brookville with 13 points. Nick Calvert scored 10 for Brookville. Other scorers were Brad Cox with 4, Collin Kindell 5, Nathan Middlestetter 5, Logan Delk 4, Tyler Cosculluela 2, Cody Harsman 3, and Marcus Brisco 4.
Franklin was 28 of 55 shooting, 7 of 15 from behind the arch. Brookville was 16 of 47, making only 4 of 17 from three point range.
BROOKVILLE ROLLS OVER PANTHERS
Brookville scored the first 7 points of the game and were never challenged in crunching Tri-County North 76 to 53 Saturday night. The win lifted Brookville to a 9-4 mark on the season.
Brookville won each of the first 3 quarters by ten points and led 69 to 39 heading into the final frame. The Blue Devils played back-ups most of the final period in rolling to the win.
Marcus Brisco scored 20 points to lead Brookville. Derek Day added 18. Devin Pennington drained 3 trifectas for 9 points, Logan Delk had 8, Brad Cox had 8, Nick Calvert 4, Collin Kindell 4, Nathan Middlestetter 2, Tyler Cosculluela 2, and Cameron Alber 1.
Austin Hutchins of North led all scorers with 22 points. No other Panthers scored in double figures. Garrett Woodyard had 8, Hunter Gleadell 5, McAdams, Cunningham, Edgin, and Hornbeck each had 4 points, and Cavendish added 2.
The Blue Devils shot 49% for the game hitting 22 of 45 shots, including 11 of 18 behind the arch. The 11 three pointers in a game are a season high for Brookville. TCN was 21 of 50 including 1 of 6 from three point land.
Making the trifectas for Brookville was Pennington with 3, Brisco with 3, Day 2, Cox 2, and Kindell 1.
Brookville travels to Bellbrook Tuesday and will host Franklin Friday.
DEVILS DEFEAT HORNETS
Brookville won its 8th game of the season by defeating the Monroe Hornets on Friday night at Monroe 51 to 45. The Blue Devils extended a lead in the final frame and then iced the game free throws in the final 3 minutes of the game. The Blue Devils are now 8-4 on the season and 4-2 in the SWBL Southwestern Division.
The game featured a scoring battle between a pair of players wearing the number 33. Senior Chris Sloneker of Monroe scored 24 points, most of them with nice post up moves on the low block. Brookville Sophomore Marcus Brisco countered with 25 points, including 14 in the final period as Brookville held onto a lead.
Brookville led after the first period 11 to 9 as Brisco scored 8 points. Collin Kindell also drained a big three in the frame. Sloneker scored 8 as Monroe tied the game at 22 late in the first half. However, Tyler Cosculluela banked in a short jumper in the lane as the half ended to give Brookville a 24 to 22 advantage.
Derek Day of Brookville scored 7 of his 10 points in the 3rd period, including a trifecta, as Brookville led 32 to 29 after 3 periods of play.
The Blue Devils defense overall did a nice job on Sloneker, but the keeping the other Hornets from scoring was a huge factor also.
In the 4th period Brisco hit a jumper and Day a free throw to make it 35 to 29. After a basket by Sloneker, Brisco drained a three and it was 38 to 31 with just under 7 minutes left in the game. After a 3 point play by Donald of Monroe, Brisco hit 2 charity shots and Logan Delk scored in the lane to give Brookville their biggest lead at 42 to 34.
Monroe never got closer than 5 points as Brisco hit 9 of 10 free throws and Nick Calvert drained a pair of charity tosses also. The final was 51 to 45 in favor of the Blue Devils.
Sloneker led Monroe with 24 and no other Hornet scored in double figures.
Brookville got 25 from Brisco, 11 from Day, 4 from Calvert, 3 each from Kindell, Cosculluela, and Devin Pennington, and 2 points from Delk.
Brookville made 16 of 34 shots, including 11 of 26 two point tries. Monroe was 16 of 38 shooting with 15 of 32 being two point tries.
Brookville will play Tri-County North in a rare Girls/Boys double header tonight in Lewisburg. The Girls game starts at 6 PM and the Boys at 7:30.
BROOKVILLE DOWNS EATON, LOSES TO SOUTH
Brookville is now 7-4 on the season after splitting a pair of games against Preble County foes. Brookville rallied to defeat Eaton 58 to 55 on Friday the 10th. Then on Saturday the 11th Twin Valley South scored the final 5 points to win 52 to 47.
Brookville trailed most of the game against the Eaton Eagles but made plays in the final period to come from behind and win the game.
Eaton led 14 to 7 after the first period and led 31 to 25 at the half. Brookville cut into the lead in the third period and trailed by just 2 points heading into the final period 47 to 45.
In the fourth quarter Eaton surged ahead and led by 7 halfway through the frame. Brookville then began to finish plays on offense and crack down on the Eagles defensively.
The Eagles led by 4 when Derek Day drained a three point basket from the corner. Day was fouled on the shot and he made the subsequent free throw for a rare 4 point play to tie the game.
Then Marcus Brisco hit a pair of 3 point shots to help Brookville seal a hard fought 3 point win at 58 to 55.
Brookville did not shoot well making only 19 of 55 tries. Brookville was 16 of 44 on 2 point shots. The Devils were 3 of 11 behind the arch. Brookville did make free throws hitting 17 of 23 on the night. Eaton was 10 of 20 from the line and 21 of 45 from the field.
Eaton’s top scorer was Eric Hoke with 21 points. No other Eagle was in double figures.

Saturday the Blue Devils battled Twin Valley South and the two squads battled hard for the entire 32 minutes. The overall deciding factor in the game was shooting and turnovers at key times. South shot 48% hitting 21 of 44 tries. Brookville made only 34% of their shots on 18 of 53 from the field. Brookville was 5 of 19 from behind the arch and 13 of 34 on 2 point tries. Total turnovers were 14 for South and 10 for Brookville.
South led 16 to 13 after the first period and 28 to 25 at the half. The Panthers led 37 to 32 after three periods of play as both team struggled to score in this frame.
In the final quarter Brookville battled hard and eventually tied the game at 47. In the final minute the game was decided. Brookville had 5 possessions and three times they turned the ball over. South meanwhile had only 1 turnover in their final 5 possessions.
Brookville had possession and turned the ball over. Then South’s Seth Baker broke the tie with a basket, Brookville came down and turned it over. Brookville then forced a turnover and missed a shot. South was fouled and missed the front end of the bonus leading 49 to 47. Brookville came down and again lost the ball. Brookville was forced to foul Wes Cole, who scored 17 of his 20 points in the second half including 11 in the final frame, hit the first but missed the second shot. The score was 50 to 47. Brookville did not get the rebound and Cole ended up with the ball and was fouled. Cole then hit both charity shots with 5 seconds left to ice the game.
Besides Cole, who literally took over the game in the second half, with 20 points, Baker added 12 and Michael Green scored 11 for the Panthers, now 7-6. This could be Coach Tony Augspurger’s best coaching season because of certain events that have occurred around this year’s team.

BROOKVILLE DOWNS TEMPLE CHRISTIAN
The Brookville Blue Devils will play Emmanuel Christian for the Emmanuel Christian Holiday Tournament Championship tonight at the Springfield school at 7:30 PM.
Brookville earned the right to play for the tourney title by outscoring Temple Christian 40 to 17 in the second half as they rolled to a 72 to 44 victory. The difference in the game was the Blue Devils second half defense and their post play in the final 16 minutes.
Tyler Cosculluela scored 8 of his career high 10 points in the second half. Logan Delk scored 7 of his 11 markers in the 3rd and 4th frames and Nick Calvert chipped in 8 points inside. Marcus Brisco led Brookville in scoring with 19 points.
Meanwhile Brookville clamped down on Senior Preston Conley in the second half. Conley scored a game high 25 points, but had only 2 points in the second half. Marcus Brisco, Collin Kindell, Derek Day, and Nathan Middlestetter took turns guarding Conley in the second 16 minutes of play.
Brookville never trailed in the game. The Devils jumped out to a 22 to 11 lead after the first period. In the second quarter Brookville scored only 10 points, while they made 7 turnovers in the period. Brookville had only 11 turnovers for the game, only 1 in the second half.
Conley scored 23 points, including draining 4 three point shots in the first half. The Tigers had only 27 at the half.
In the third frame Brookville led 34 to 32 two minutes into the stanza. The Blue Devils then went on 19 to 8 run to end the period. Brookville led 53 to 40 after 3 periods of play.
In the final frame Brookville held the Tigers to 4 points and scored 19 points themselves to win the game 72 to 44.
Conley was the only Tiger to score in double figures.

Brookville will play Emmanuel Christian at 7:30 tonight for the Tournament Championship. Emmanuel defeated Granville Christian to reach the finals.
DEVILS 4-3 AFTER DOWNING TRAIL
The Brookville Blue Devils controlled the game and slowly pulled away from National Trail Saturday night to win by 16 points 54 to 38. The victory raised the Blue Devils record to 4-3 on the season heading into the Emmanuel Christian Tournament this weekend.
The victory ended a two game losing streak. It was not a pretty game but Brookville did hustle and show great effort throughout the contest. The Devils only shot 28% from the field making 15 of 54 shots. Brookville got plenty of second shots during the game as did a nice job on the boards at both ends of the court. Of the 54 shots, Brookville took 16 from behind the arch and made 4 while hitting on 11 of 38 two point tries.

Brookville scored the first 5 points of the game. Marcus Brisco hit a 3 and then Derek Day scored on a fast break. Brisco and Delk added baskets as Brookville would lead 9 to 6 after the first period of play.
In the second period Brisco scored on bunny and then hit from behind the arch to make it 14 to 7 Brookville. Trail then scored 6 of the next 9 points, with Collin Kindell drilling a 3 for Brookville’s points; to make the score was 17 to 13. Brookville answered with 7 straight points. Logan Delk made a pair of free throws. Then Nick Calvert scored inside. Brad Cox then ended the spurt with a three pointer. The score was 24 to 13 and when the half ended 26 to 16 it would be the closest the Blazers would come the rest of the night.
Derek Day had 6 points in the 3rd quarter and Brisco added 4 free throws as Brookville would outscore the Blazers 17 to 8 in the frame. The Devils also got points from Nathan Middlestetter, Tyler Cosculluela, and Nick Calvert. It was 43 to 24 heading into the final frame.
Brookville won by 16 when the game ended and were never challenged in the final frame. Day made 7 of 8 charity tosses in the period and Delk and Calvert added baskets. 9 Blue Devils scored during the game. Bailey Stewart and Nicholas Nikos did try to get the Blazers back into the game but Brookville had the answers on this night. Stewart scored 16 and Nikos 14 for Trail.

Brookville was 20 of 24 from the foul line which is excellent charity shooting. The Devils had 4 three pointers. Brisco nailed 2, Cox 1, and Kindell 1.
Brookville will play against Temple Christian Friday at 6 pm at Emmanuel Christian, which is in Springfield, in a tournament next weekend. Depending on the Friday result Brookville will play either at 6 pm or 7:30 on Saturday. EAGLES DOWN DEVILS
The Brookville Blue Devils were unable to overcome the Bellbrook Golden Eagles overall superior size in an SWBL Southwestern Division game last week at Brookville. The final score was 67 to 55 Eagles. The loss dropped Brookville to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Division race. Bellbrook went to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Division, tied with Franklin.
The Blue Devils shot 38% on the game while Bellbrook shot 48%. Bellbrook nailed 14 of 19 free throws during the game including 8 of 8 in the final 70 seconds of the game to seal the victory.
Brookville managed to stay close to the Eagles in the first half. The Devils trailed only 33 to 26 at the break. Brad Cox had 10 points in the first half for the Devils. Collin Kindell drained a trifecta with 2:25 left in the first half to get Brookville to within 1 at 27 to 26. However the Eagles scored the final 6 points of the first half.
In the third period Brookville started out quick scoring 8 of the first 10 points to cut the margin to 35 to 34 Eagles. Derek Day and Marcus Brisco nailed three pointers and Day scored on a drive. However, the Eagles then went on a 14 to 2 run in the next 4 and ½ minutes to lead by 13 at 49 to 36.
Cox and Day drained 3 pointers to end the period at 49 to 42.
In the final frame Bellbrook slowly built the lead to 11 with 4 minutes left. It was 57 to 46.
Brookville battled back. Nick Calvert scored all six of his points in the period. Day drained a trifecta, Kindell scored on a drive, and Day hit a free throw to cut the margin to 57 to 54 with 1:56 left in the game.
Josh Rogers scored on fast break with 1:50 to go to make it 59 to 54. Brookville got a free throw from Brisco and it was 59 to 55 with 1:42 left. However Bellbrook then hit 8 straight charity shots to seal the win at 67 to 55.
Bellbrook was led by Josh Schumacher with 19 points; Austin Hall added 15 markers; Rogers had 12 points; and Alec Campbell 10.

HOT FIRING CATS DOWN DEVILS
The Franklin Wildcats ended the Brookville Blue Devils 3 game winning streak by a score of 85 to 43 Saturday night at Franklin. Franklin is 4-0 on the season and Brookville dropped to 3-2 and 2-1 in the SWBL Southwestern Division.
Franklin shot a sizzling 60% on 32 of 53 during the game. That includes an amazing 12 of 22 behind the arch. Luke Kennard led the Wildcat barrage of points with 33, which is actually his season low. Kennard had 163 points in 4 games, averaging 41 per contest.
Brookville stayed with the Wildcats in the first quarter trailing only 19 to 16 after the first 8 minutes. However, Evan Crowe scored 8 of his 19 points in the 2nd period and Kennard added 9 as the Cats grabbed control of the game 40 to 25 at the half. Franklin led 58 to 33 after three periods of play and rolled to the 85 to 43 win.
Brookville was led by Marcus Brisco with 13 points. However, all of his markers came in the first period. Nick Calvert was strong inside scoring 8. Tyler Cosculluela tallied 6; Logan Delk added 4; Collin Kindell and Devin Pennington each had 3; and Derek Day, Brad Cox, and Cameron Alber each scored 2 points to round out the Blue Devils points.
Brookville shot 15 of 52 for the game including 5 of 23 behind the three point line.
Franklin drained 12 three point shots. Kennard had 5, Crowe 2, Daniels 3, and Thompson and Rudd 1 each.
Brookville will host Bellbrook Friday.
DEVILS DOWN MONROE FOR 3RD STRAIGHT WIN
The Brookville Blue Devils outscored Monroe 23 to 12 in the final frame to come from behind and defeat the Hornets 56 to 47 at Brookville Friday night. The win lifted Brookville to a record of 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Southwestern Division of the SWBL. The Blue Devils travel to Franklin tonight to tangle with Luke Kennard and the Cats.
Marcus Brisco led Brookville with 24 points and Derek Day added 13. Sloneker led the Hornets with 24 points and Hatton added 15.
Brad Cox scored 6 points, Logan Delk added 4, and Tyler Cosculluela tallied 7 markers for Brookville.
The Devils trailed 35 to 33 heading into the final frame. Brookville surged in the final frame to win their second straight come from behind victory of the week. Brookville trailed by 5 with 4 minutes remaining before the late run led to the victory. Monroe dropped to 2-2 with the loss.
BROOKVILLE EDGES OAKWOOD IN THRILLER AT THE PIT
Logan Delk buried a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left in the game to give Brookville a 45 to 44 victory over Oakwood in a thrill packed back and forth contest Tuesday night. The Lumberjacks had a 3 pointer bounce off the rim and a tip bounce off the iron also in the final seconds. Brookville is now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Southwestern Division of the SWBL. It was the second straight win for Brookville at the pit.
The game featured 6 ties and 18 lead changes, including 3 ties in the final frame and 8 lead changes in the final 8 minutes.
Brookville led heading into the final period 30 to 29. Oakwood took the lead as Ireland made a hoop. Then Pepper drained a 3 and it was 34 to 30 Jacks. Day scored on a fast break bunny, then after a free throw by Banke, Brad Cox drained a trifecta to tie the game at 35 with 3:38 remaining.
Delk made a charity toss to give Brookville the lead at 36 to 35. Pepper again was true from behind the arch to make it 38 to 36 Oakwood. Cosculluela scored inside to tie the game with 2:47 left.
Derek Day stole a pass and fed Marcus Brisco for a lay-in and Brookville led 40 to 38 with 2:21 remaining. French drained a 3 and it was Oakwood on top 41 to 40 with 2 minutes on the clock. Brisco drained a 3 from the corner with 1:25 to go and Brookville regained the lead 43 to 41. Banke then hit a trifecta with 1:07 left to give Oakwood the 44 to 43 lead.
It appeared Brookville had thrown the game away with a bad pass with 30 seconds left and down 1 point. However, Derek Day stole the ball deep in the Oakwood end of the court near the corner with 14 seconds left in the game.
Oakwood pressed and Brookville hit Marcus Brisco with a pass and Brisco attacked the front court, saw Logan Delk free on his right and made a perfect pass to Delk. Delk went up for a lay-in and was fouled with 10 seconds left. Delk hit the front end of the 1 and 1 to tie the game. Oakwood called time out, Delk drained the second freebie and Brookville led 45 to 44.
Oakwood came down court and Grant Pepper, who already had made 5 three point shots, fired again and the ball bounced off the rim, a tap fell away also and the buzzer sounded with Brookville getting the win.
There were 6 three pointers in the final frame, 4 by Oakwood and 2 by Brookville. The game went back and forth throughout the final frame until Brookville ended up on top.
Oakwood was 8 of 24 from 2 point range and 7 of 20 behind the arch. Brookville was 16 of 55 overall, 6 of 26 behind the arch and 10 of 29 on 2 point tries. Brookville was 7 of 9 from the foul line and Oakwood 7 of 12.
Pepper led Oakwood with 17 points, Max Banke added 10.

STRONG FIRST HALF CARRIES DEVILS OVER HOUNDS
The Brookville Blue Devils rode a 46 point first half outburst to an exciting 75 to 68 victory over Dixie in the second game of the season last Saturday night in Brookville. The win evened the Blue Devils record at 1-1 on the campaign and Dixie fell to 1-2. Both squads begin SWBL Division Play this week.
It was the best first half of basketball for the Blue Devils as far as points are concerned in well over a decade. The game featured 11 three point shots made, 5 by Brookville and 6 by Dixie. Brookville was able to attack the basket inside in the first half and that led to the lead. Brookville ran the court well but more importantly made a number of fine passes that led to those inside shots. In the two losses by Dixie this season the Hounds gotten behind by double digits and had to try and scramble back in the final frame. This time Dixie never got closer than 5 points in the final frame. Brookville managed to hold off the Hounds by draining free throws. Brookville made 11 of 18 charity shots in the final period, most in the final three minutes of play. The Blue Devils made 29 of 43 from the foul line on the night. Dixie was 18 of 30 from the charity stripe for the game. “We were able to get good shots in the first half” stated Jeff Davidson, Brookville Head Coach. “Then we did enough to win down the stretch and we made a number of free throws.” “We dug a hole and could not get out of it” claimed Dixie mentor Isaiah Williams. “We have to have better starts to keep from getting into those holes. However, our effort was good the entire game and we played hard.” Shooting wise Brookville was 18 of 37 overall. However The Devils were an outstanding 13 of 23 on 2 point shots. Dixie was 22 of 56 shooting for the game and 6 of 17 behind the arch. Brookville led after the first period 26 to 15. Derek Day made a pair of trifectas as he had 8 points in the frame. Marcus Brisco had 7 points, all inside and Nick Calvert scored 6 and Tyler Cosculluela had 5. Dixie got 5 from Seth Benner and 10 from Logan Watts. Brookville went on a run of 11 straight points to turn an 8 to 5 lead into a 19 to 5 during a two minute stretch in the middle of the first period. Brookville outscored the Hounds 20 to 16 in the second quarter to lead 45 to 31 at the intermission. Brad Cox had 7 points in the period for Brookville. Watts nailed a pair of 3 point shots to lead Dixie. In the third period Brookville scored 3 points early and led 49 to 31, their biggest lead of the game. It was the biggest advantage Brookville would enjoy during the game. Day made 6 free throws, Collin Kindell drained a 3, and Logan Delk scored 4 points inside for Brookville. Dixie got 5 points from Griffin Moore and 6 more from Watts as they sliced into the deficit. Brookville slowed the tempo some and held a lead of 59 to 45 after three periods of play. In the final frame Griffin Moore got hot for the Hounds. Moore scored 11 points in the period including a three point shot. Watts added 4 points and Austin Fisher and Jackson Pietrzak each added 3 points. The Dixie surge got to within 5 points at one time. Brookville got hoops from Cameron Alber and Logan Delk in the period. The Devils also got Free Throws from Brisco, Calvert Day, and Cox. Day made 5 charity shots during the frame as he ended up with 23 markers in the contest. 15 of his points came from the free throw line in the game. Despite Dixie closing the gap, Brookville maintained control of the game by Slowing down the tempo and forcing the Hounds to foul. When the final seconds ticked away Brookville had the 75 to 68 win. It must be noted Brookville had good crowd support especially from the students in the game. Dixie also had a vocal crowd with good student support. Scoring for Dixie shows Fisher with 6, Pietrzak 6, Mintz 1, Moore 16, Benner 13, and Watts with 26. The Hounds got three pointers from Pietrzak, Moore, Benner, and 3 from Watts. The Devils had 5 trifectas coming from Pennington, Kindell, Cox and 2 from Day. In the JV game Brookville won handily 54 to 27. The basket foiled a furious Brookville rally in the final two minutes of the game. Brookville trailed by 5 points with 1:15 to play 43 to 38. Caleb Poland of the Bulldogs hit a shot in the lane that gave the dogs the 5 point advantage. Poland led all scorers with 27 points on 9 of 18 shooting from the field and 6 of 6 from the charity stripe. Down by 5 Collin Kindell drained a three pointer from the corner with just over a minute left. Brookville pressed and forced a bad pass. On the possession a shot was missed but Logan Delk fought for and grabbed a rebound, spun back into the lane and hit a short shot to tie the game at 43. 35 seconds remained. Milton brought the ball up court and set up a play in which Poland got off a ten foot jumper with 3 seconds left. However the ball floated over and past the rim. It landed in the hands of Dickison on the baseline about ten feet from the hoop. Dickison grabbed the ball, and took a short range jumper that went through the hoop with .8 seconds left giving Milton the victory. Brookville played well overall but 11 turnovers, and 16 of 38 shooting was not enough for the Devils to earn a victory. Brookville made only 6 of 11 free throws. Brad Cox and Derek Day led Brookville with 11 and 10 points respectively. Marcus Brisco added 7, Logan Delk 6, Tyler Cosculluela 4, and Nick Calvert 2. Brookville is at Oakwood Tuesday, will host Monroe Friday and travels to Franklin Saturday.
